I introduce ancient city Ephesus.

It prospered once as a harbor city facing the Aegean Sea.

The existing things are ruins of Roman Empire period after the 3rd century B.C.

When it became around the first millennium B.C., ancient Greek began to build harbor cities throughout the west coast of Turkey facing the Aegean Sea.

One of the oldest military conflicts with Greece was Trojan War.

Prosperity of Ephesus began from when Greek emigrated in the 11th century B.C.

Then, Persia, Alexander the Great, and the Roman Empire ruled the city.

Before long, it received several invasions and was abandoned.

Most of the colony of Greek was harbor cities that were surrounded with castle walls.

Trading with Greece mainland and the hinterland supported the economy of the city.

An order of Tour of inspection begins from the right side of above map.

The alphabet on the map shows the position of following photo.

Although a harbor looks small at the upper left of the map, it is 6000 meters away from the coastline now.

This Agora was a public market.

It could seat 1500 people and was used also as a conference place.

I climbed two amphitheaters in this trip, and was surprised at the steep slope of it.

I seem it was considered for the echo, but I was afraid of the stair.
